I have recently purchased privately an XF but I am unable to get a bleaping sound out of the speech swich on the steering wheel as told in the manual.to operate it. Am I doing something wrong, or do I have to do something before operating it? This is my first Jaguar so I am a little in the dark as I am learning about things every time I drive it.Can anyone advise please?

Neville,

Have found this, it might have been deactivated by the dealer .

" One specific area that the IQS survey identified as being 'difficult to use' for XF was Jaguar VoiceControl™.

The Company has therefore taken the decision to deactivate VoiceControl™  on all  with immediate effect, starting with VIN R95245. On vehicles that no longer have VoiceControl™ activated, the steering wheel mounted button will mute the audio volume, similar to the current XK functionality."

It seems it was reintroduced with the 2012 models, had it on my XJ Supersport, but never used it.

Are you sure your model has it?

Welcome to the Club, Neville.

I don't have Jaguar Voice on my S type, thank God, although it is an optional extra.

I think Trevor is probably correct in what he has found.

Regards,

Peter.

Peter,

Couldn't agree more, that speech recognition is more trouble than it's worth in my opinion, and you don't really need it .

But that's enough about the wife !

I would just like to thank everyone who gave me information regarding my query which has put my mind at ease. I think it must have been disconnected as informed and it sounds if it did work it was a pain anyway.

Thank you all once again.
