Hello everyone, I hope I can get some advice here.

I bought an x type 2.5 v6 automatic awd and every month I keep gettin an orange light and on the display gearbix fault. I say every month as I get it removed and it comes back one month later. The scanner is saying somethin wiv the software/ecu the garage say it needs an update but why would it if it's been programmed from day one to do wot it does. The car runs normally and doesn't enter limp/safe mode so does anyone have any info that could help please?

Hi Chris, and welcome to the club.

I used to have a 2.5AWD but it was a manual.  Mine was a 2005  model, so I am less wise about the X Type Auto.

But as Charlie says, it could need reprogramming.  The garage could well be right.

Regards,

Peter.

Thank u for ur replies and advice and welcoming me to the forum. The garage also said that on the scanner it comes up wiv something like flight box in the data for it to come up wiv this fault. And us a both confused about it. If it is reprogramming they can't do it as the garage doesn't have the equipment and haven't got a clue on the cost. Have either of u heard of the ecu needed to b reprogrammed. Thanx
