My S-type came with two keys/remotes they were always hard to operate but now I have about 10 seconds from opening with the key to getting the ignition turned on or all hell breaks loose. HELP!

Hi Steve, and welcome to the club.

 

It looks to me as if you need to get your keys reprogrammed.  They do not appear to be switching off the alarm.  I have never experienced this myself, but my guess is that is where the problem is.

Thanks for a fast reply Peter, I was thinking of auto locksmiths. It just gets a bit embarrassing if I'm away early and no one else is.

 

It feels good to be part of the community, it was my son who suggested I joined (think he was sick of me asking him the questions)

There is a topic on the Jaguar Owners Lounge with a list of recommended independent garages.  In particular there is a very well respected independent Jaguar specialist in Doncaster which might be close enough to you.

 

The independent garages are just as good as main dealers  --  often better -- and certainly less expensive.

 

I think you will enjoy the Club   --- a lot of friendly people who will always try to assist.

Well thanks for the welcome, and this goes to all members who responded to my plea THANK YOU ONE AND ALL.

As for my key fobs thanks to Chris at CnL Locksmiths Chris came to my house and from the back of his van and within two shakes had both remotes working as they should do. I'm so pleased to be at ease with my purring cat, looks like she's having a trip to the coast. Take care everyone and Thanks again. Steve S-type.
