Infuriating!  The message came on just when the grandchildren had got into the car when picking them up from school in Lichfield.  More infuriating was the fact that my spanners had gone astray somewhere in the boot.  Granddaughter advised that it happened three weeks ago when I parked in the same place.

Why have Jaguar not put in a switch which disconnects the battery rather than me having to root around in the dark?  And why do I need a different spanner for the live and the earth?

Thanks, Mike.

It has happened 4 times in the last 11 months, all at very inconvenient times.

The Chancellor has just sent me £200 to keep me warm in the winter, so I will invest some of it to keep me from being out messing with the battery.

Cheers,

Peter.

Order placed, Mike. [With VAT and postage £52]  I will get my mechanic to fit it, as I don't get oily hand any more.

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter,

Hope it helps, but of course by sods law you'll probably never need to do it again!

And Kenny I'll almost guarantee it's the same one, it's certainly the one I had fitted to my Clubman circuit racer in the 80's

Yes. looks like the one I had fitted to the Cooper S in the 70's wasn't as posh as you 1275 circuit racers :-)

On the blurb that the site gave me, they indicated that it had been tried and tested in motorsport over quite a few years.

Sods law is also tried and tested so if I ever need it I will be disappointed.  I had a bad puncture in 2001 and carried a trolley jack every time I took the caravan out.  Once that trolley jack was in the boot I never had a puncture.

Peter.
