Hi Gary,

I think you are non DPF,purely because 2005 was the change over point between emission standards from euro 3 to euro 4 which required a DPF to meet the reduced hydrocarbon and soot output of the vehicles.....AND remember car manufacturers rarely add componants where cost is involved unless it is required!

Hi Gary,

Sometimes dealers are not up to scratch with information.  Simon put sone very informative and useful posts concerning emissions. I checked up the detail and using the VIN decoder I was told that my car had Stage IV requirements for emission control.

Delving further via Google into the whole development of the 2.7 Engine and the Euro requirements  I found the exact details.

The dealer you spoke to could be asked about the recall of some diesel crass I mentioned.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Simon,

As you suggested I did look up the whole development of the 2.7 D engine, and found the exact dates of emission requirements which showed exactly what you have just said.

Manufacturers will save coppers wherever they can. I worked in the Steel Industry almost all my working life, and particularly involved with the automotive component parts of that industry, and while not an engineer, got to know how keen the manufacturers were to save money, as it all adds up on a long run.

Peter.
