Following excellent advice, I was able to get my folding mirrors moving again by liberal dosage with WD40.

However, one has now become noticeably juddery when extending and I'm thinking of stripping them both down to clean up the pivot bearings more thoroughly.

Please can anybody tell me if they can be stripped down and if so how to do so. I don't want to go blindly into this project if I can get some advice first.

The maintenance manual shows how to remove and replace them but goes no further.

Thank you

Id be interested in if anyones done it to. Both my mirrors went a bit stiff last week and have used lots of wd40 like last time but are very juddery still and squeaky!

OK,

No chance of dismantling, but following varied suggestions I ended up using graphited penetrating Oil which did the job. Mirrors now smooth and quiet again :)
