Hi I am new here after some advice before I spend money on parts.

Have a 53 plate 2litre SType. The engine coolant low warning is nearly always constantly on. I was told probably sensor on header tank so thought j might just as well just replace complete header tank with sensor. However I made an observation Saturday that when travelling on motorway the warning us not present nor is the light. However as soon as off motorway. On normal round town roads the warning is permanently on. But when back in the motorway its permanently off again. Any body throw any light on this ????

My money would be on a sticking thermostat.

Oh, you say you have a 2ltr s type.

2.5 3.0 2.7d 4.0 or 4.2??

Hi Tara, and welcome to the club.

I am also inclined to agree with Andy.

The cheapest options are aways the best ones to try first.

Regards,

Peter.

Hello Tara, I'm in agreement with the other chaps therefore, do not believe it will be an expensive resolve to the problem, old luck.

If it was thermostat related you expect either over heating or taking forever to reach a normal running temperature

The gauge sits dead centre and doesn't move

Hi Tara

I had a similar problem as well. Is it actually loosing any water from the cooling system?
