Hi,

No doubt you have all had this before, but Iv'e just bought a 2003 3Ltr. V6 with 99,000 miles.  Absolutely love it so far.

Please let me know what I need to look out for, and what should I do to keep it sweet.

Cheers.

Welcome to the Club, Gary.

Sharing experiences is a valuable part of the Club and of great assistance to other members.

My S type is one of the last to come off the line, and is a 2.7 Diesel.

The 3.0 litre engine is a tried and tested one, and most of the S Types exported to the USA had this engine and about 100,000 of them are across the pond.

Some members have checked the sills of their cars and found some rust under the covers, which are easily removable.

Another minor issue is that thee can be a water ingress into the boot which if your car is parked on a slope, left to right, will run down towards the battery. Cleaning the rubber seals can help, and several pieces of kitchen tissue can also act as a safeguard.  Having done the cleaning bit quite thoroughly I don't seem to get water in any more.

The only other issue I have had is the electronic handbrake sticking in cold weather.  This can be rectified by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so which will reset the computer. Easy enough to do provided you have the radio code handy.

The s type is a great car, hold the road well and cruises beautifully on long journeys.  I would recommend the best quality fuel, too, rather than supermarket fuel, as a performance car needs the best.

Enjoy!

Regards,

Peter.

Welcome to the club, Dave.

It comes across that you like your S type !! Great.  I always wanted one myself and when my X type [great car, too] was stolen my wife said that we could turn a disaster into an opportunity.

I hope you enjoy the club as much as you enjoy your Jaguar.

Regards,

Peter.
