It is time to change the discs and pads on my 56 plate 2.7D. I have seen drilled and grooved plates advertised along with the bog standard discs. Would there be any benefit in fitting the drilled and grooved discs to my car.

Hi Garry,

I fitted EBC standard discs to my V8 last year and they pulled me up from Autobahn speeds with no fade at all.

Unless you're going to use it on track days my guess is no, on the other hand they do look the part!

There would be no difference in performance more so cosmetically although I must admit I tend to upgrade to the crossed drilled discs (EBC) along with their green stuff pads

Drilled holes and grooves are there to let the gasses released from the brake pad material when hot, following heavy use, to escape and not cause friction problems between the pad and the disc.

So, unless you are regularly getting your brakes that hot I'd think there would be no performance benefit. However, as previously mentioned, they DO look the part on our cars B)

Standard one's it is then. They do look nice but I have the 18in muti-spoke wheels and you would hardly see them.

       Thanks everyone.
