I recently bought a 2007 S type  with same year nav cd. I'm thinking it works like a Tom Tom but now realise it doesn't! Once you have located your destination, can you save it by name i.e. Mill Green Golf Club, or The Golf Hotel, to save me carrying round scraps of paper with the post code on!

Also, what's a way point?

Used it last Friday to nav from Welwyn to Chigwell Golf Club and it told me I had 797 miles to go!!

Would appreciate any help or link to nav manual as only have the quick start.

thanks

Hi Peter, and Welcome to the club.

First, you can get a new disc for your model, which I did, via google/amazon which is the 2011/12 disc for about £30.

You may also be able to download the Touch Screen manual again via google.

When you get used to it, the Sat nav is quite good, and Doris [the Lady in my SatNav] took me through the centre of Dublin a week last Friday without a problem, even though they have no post codes in Ireland.

If you can't find a download I will copy my manual and send it to you.

Doris will take me to Welwyn tomorrow and it will not be more than 120 miles.  I think the distance to Chigwell is possibly that your settings are a bit awry.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Peter,

I have located the Touch Screen manual and it is available to download free.

I just Googled  Touch Screen manual for S Type Jaguar  and the full manual came up.

It is worth downloading the Part of the Manual that refers to the Sat Nav, as I still have to refer to mine occasionally.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Peter,

I'm a newbie too and my sat nav was a surprise to me too in how different it is to my old Tom. The ability to save is great. I use a "waypoint" as a 'via' location i.e. go from a to c via b, with 'b' as the waypoint. I do miss the speed camera alerts however and true speed indication.

Regards,

Dennis

Just like to say thanks to Old Peter and mindofitsown for the great help. Purchased a 2011/12 nav CD from internet and uploaded ok - although a bit nervous when the climate control numbers kept changing!

Also down loaded the nav owners manual - great help.

On another matter, my S type sometimes does a "double-bleep" when I lock it - any ideas why?

Hi Peter,

The double beep is the first beep for locking the car and the second beep is for putting on the alarm

The key fob seems to be set.  On my s type I have to double click the key fob. I think there is a bit in the owners manual

Regards,

Peter.

I have had two XFs and the SatNav is very different to my Tom.  The directions can be totally incorrect and I recently experienced a "Turn around when possible" when it just needed a left turn on a filter lane.  The difference between Turn and Fork and "Take the exit" are apparently interchangeable.  On the M25 it tells you to take the M25!  Plus there is no lane preference system.  Or am I doing something wrong?  My Jaguar main dealer assure me that the data is up-to-date.

A great disappointment in what is otherwise a lovely motor.
