Hi All

I recently bougfht my first Jaguar, a 2007 X Type 2.5 V6 petrol.

Whilst taking it on its first long run I had to overtake on the motorway and accelerated hard from about 60 mph, as I did so there was a loud clunk/bang from the front end. I took my foot off and tried again adding power slowly and there was no problem, I then tried again adding power hard and the clunk/bang happened again.

So my question is, doesd anyone have any idea what it could be?

hi Dave firstly welcome to the club

i had something along the same lines  in my old x300 yrs ago, it turned out to be an engine mounting ? maybe have a look around the engine bay  and give a few things a wiggle or the exhaust pipes etc  best with two people one sat inside the car to give it a rev up & see if anything is loose etc if you cant move or see anything then it may be a trip to the garage

I KNOW I DONT HAVE TO TELL YOU THIS BUT PLEASE KEEP YOUR HANDS & ANY LOOSE CLOTHING OUT OF THE WAY OF ANY  MOVING PARTS

sorry i cant help any futher
