hi there i am new to this club and need help with my 2002 xj8,the check engine light is on (yellow) so i put it in for a diagnostics check and came back as faulty o2 sensors.as the engine is running absolutely sweet as a nut with no heavy MPG the mechanic said the sensors can not be faulty.can anybody offer any advice?

Hi Paul, and welcome to the club.

 

That is a mystery.  If the engine is running nicely, it cannot be the fuel system, and as the mechanic says it can't be the sensors, I am just wondering if it could be a minor electrical fault somewhere.

 

If you had an OBD2 code reader you could erase the code and see if the amber light goes out.

 

That is just a guess as I am from the era of the Stillson No 8 and the lump hammer!

thanks for replying,i do have a scanner and reset the light but comes back on about a minute after running,the car is fantastic and does not miss a beat so i am thinking nothing serious but MOT is due soon and is a failure with that light on.
