Hi, I am looking to upgrade the headlight bulbs on my 2009 X type 2.2 D, to make this easier the Workshop manual says to remove the battery, if I do this will it cause any memory problems when I refit it or will everything be ok,

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice

Hi Andrew,

You will have to reset the settings, radio, clock etc if you disconnect. 5 minutes if you have the radio code handy.

You can connect the battery to another power source to save doing that.

Yes, Andy.

I had had a few issues with the electronic handbrake sticking on. I just disconnect the battery for 10 minutes which lets the computer reset.  Connect it up again, put in the radio code and off you go.

Hi Andy

It will also clear your A/B mileage settings, check your MPG before you Disconnect on A/B and leave Battery Disconnected for 10 minutes and the next time you do a descent mileage you should get a Better MPG on A/B as the computer will have been Reset.

I'm changing my Headlight bulbs trying to match the colour of my Side lights as i have changed them ,when clipping the Cover back on use a metal coat hanger with a hook on the end or use strong string or cord for the clip next to the wing.

Regards

Tom

Don't forget the one touch electric windows will need resetting too.. I always forget that until I am trying to get into a multistorey car park, driving in and trying to close my window at the same time :-)
