My First Jaguar X-Type SE DCI

Featured Replies

Hi,

On Friday, I pick up my Jaguar X-Type SE DCI. Although this is my first Jaguar, though my parents have owned several jags: MKii, 420g, 420, XJ6 Executives (2)... so I am not new to Jaguar world.  However, considering this is the first modern Jaguar... what are the things I need to be on the look out for with her?

Shaun

Welcome to the Club, Shaun.

The X type is a tried and proven car, and you will enjoy the way it drives.  I had the 2.5 AWD model and enjoyed it immensely.

Use the best fuel and she will treat you well,

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the reply. I am just a little on the excited part... I think she is a good buy.  I will post some photos when I have her.

Hi, I am curious, does the vehicle have a timing belt or timing chain, and how often do I need to replace it?

Hi Shaun,

I have had my 2009 X type 2.2 D for about 6 weeks now and I am sure you will enjoy driving yours as much as I do, I have replaced the rear window seals (£36.00 Farnells Jaguar) which bubble and seem to be a common problem with X types,

Andy

Hi Shaun

Welcome to the Club, the x type has a timing chain .Most members who have purchased a Jaguar like to change (Oil Filter and Engine Oil, Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Pollen Filter) and check Antifreeze, Brake Fluid And Change if necessary. You should only use Genuine Jaguar Oil and Fuel Filters.

Regards Tom
