Just bought car second hand, Fault warning came up after we had the car for 2 days. Checked out with garage. Fault ID as steering angle sensor. Garage tried to clear it but it persisted. New sensor fitted but fault not cleared. Had tracking done and all seemed good for a day. Fault returned, had garage recalibrate system. Fault remains. Car into local Jag garage for fault resolution. Anyone else found problems with steering angle sensors or even individual wheel ABS sensors?

Hi Paul

Just found this thread, i have not had any problems so far just wondering if you got your problem sorted out . I don't know if you have an Auto with the Diesel Particulate filter as when changing the Engine Oil we only put in about 5·5 litres of Oil because if the Regeneration of the DPFilter Doesn't fully Finnish a Regen Diesel Fuel can Enter the Sump forcing up the Oil Level which can cause Problems and they don't like a lot of short journeys.

Hi Tom and thanks for your contact. I have finally got the problem sorted and so far so good. The steering wheel angle sensor was the bad boy and after much trial and error the garage managed to get it to talk to all other sensors and the system cleared itself so no warning lights now and the car seems to handle well and motor along well on Norfolk back roads. As to your other point about the Diesel Particulate filter my car is manual and as yet have not discovered all of its many specialised parts so am not really up to speed on your comments but so far cannot say I have found any issues regarding Oil pressure, sump Oil or short journeys so sorry can't really comment knowledgeably.

Hi Paul

Good to here everything is sorted out ,the only thing you'll need to watch out for is the EGR Valve getting gummed up some members clean the valve and manifold and then fit a Blanking Plate with a 8 or 10 mm Hole in it to the EGR VALVE, i haven't done this to my x type

as they say it can't be done to an Auto. Diesels are ment to be Driven and get the needle on the Rev Counter above 2.500 revs don't always keep it under 2.000 revs as some say give it an Italian Tuning now and again.

Hi Paul and Tom,

Good to see problems getting sorted out.

My s type 2.7D has two EGR valves and I sometimes get the engine warning light on and my OBD2 scanner tells me that it is Code P0402, which means roughly that the EGR valves are closed and not opening.

Sometimes a good blast on the A38 cures it and if not a can of Wynns Diesel EGR cleaner does the job.

I am going to Burton-on-Trent today and the 20 miles journey will have the S Button on all the time to ensure the revs are over 2,000, and the DPF should be fully regenerated when I get back home.

Peter.
