Hi,

Has anyone bought replacement front mats recently? I bought some cheap ones off eBay but they won't fit over the little pegs on the carpet. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

I've tried all sorts of (so called Jaguar over mats) and none of them come up to the mark, just spent £75 on a new set of original Jaguar mats for the X type auto and they fit exactly and are a deep lush pile, sadly, I think you will have to part with the hard earned to get what your looking for.

Cheers

Hi Ian,

I had one badly worn mat in my s type when I bough it.  £3 at Halfords bought me a rubber mat which I cut to the right size to cover the worn out bit and a good brushing with a stiff brush made  the mat  as good as new.

Thanks both,

I don't mind paying out for genuine replacements if they're the best solution. The set I replaced were the original ones so they seem to wear well 😀

Thanks

Ian

Ian, If it helps and just as an indicator of original mat durability,

I have a set of black Xtype mats that came with my Sport estate back in 04 in the garage, they did 200k and suffered abuse from kids, dogs and the like,  the only sign of wear is the spot where the heel of my shoe settled for the gas pedal, it's a small hole through the carpet to the under mat (but not right through) and is about the size of a 50p piece, otherwise all 4 are like new and clean up really well.  My present car came with cheaper aftermarket mats and I knew I had to replace them with originals based on how good they were.

good luck

I bought a set of mats from Rimmer Bros who mainly deal with classics. They are a perfect fit and I've customised them with a couple of iron on badges. (See photo)

Open a Not as description case for you money back

Hi Ian,

Hope I'm not too late, you've probably bought some by now.  Have you tried www.carmats4u.com?  They offer a range of tailored car mats from £17.99 (special offer) upto £99 for a full set of four.  You pays your money and takes your choice.

Best, Rowley

Hi Tigger,

Can you tell me please where from you bought those mats, as I am about to buy a whole beige set soon.

Thx

Adam

Hi Tigger,

Thank you for a quick answer, I will have a look.
