Hi peeps been looking to buy an XF 3.0 td v6 ....... have asked dealer if cam belts been done and he says its a chain not a belt ???? anyone confirm this ?
 its a 2010 model

Hi Terry,

My S type 2.7 diesel [which was in the 2008/9 XF] has  a cam belt which should be changed after 105k or 10 years.

I would have thought the XF would have been the same, although I stand to be corrected by an XF owner.

Regards,

Peter,

Hi

as far as i can see in autodata the 3.0 petrol is timing chain, but diesel has a cam belt

cheers

Hi Terry, it's a belt good for five year or just over 100,000 mile. My car needed work in that area and jaguar fitted new belt kit etc as good work ethics at 58,000. Its done 62,000 so happy days.

regards Dave .

Hi Terry , I have the 3.0 ltr TD V6 2009 and have just had the belts done at 98,000 mls . Went to an independent garage

and was informed that their are two timing belts fitted on the V6 one at the front of the engine and one on the rear ( Jag recommend a change at 105,000 miles.)

regards Alan

Cheers all .... What sort of bargaining cost can I throw at the dealers when buying one that hasn't had this done

Hi Terry , I don't think you would get much change from £1000.00 from main dealer , I could be wrong as I went to an independent garage

maybe someone can quote a more accurate cost on here , or give your local Jag garage a ring.

all the best Alan

Hi Terry

You'd  prob not get much change out of £500 at jaguar.

regards Dave
