Hello fello gents,

I'm in the process of tidying up my new (old) grey S-Type 2.7d SE and in doing so, I'm having the alloys (BBS Melbournes) refurbished professionally. I have a tough choice; Gloss Black or Sparkling Silver?

The car is grey and I've just purchased some absolutely beautiful red centre caps (PSA pictures). Which is why I believe Gloss Black is a good choice (+ the new jags look gorgeous in this colour scheme). However, with the classic look of the S-Type, would it look daft? Should I play safe with silver?

Does anyone have a grey S-Type with black alloys? Or have an opinion on the matter?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Phil

(PS I'm 23 years of age)

Silver IMHO, I'm just about to redo mine and I'm going for silver

My car is also grey. If it was me I would go for black but Matt finish. I had these on my last car and as well as looking great they were so easy to clean.

I went silver just to be safe really and they've come up awesome!

Agreed they look great. Good choice so watch out for the kerbs and potholes.

How about 'technical grey' from the XKR-S ?

I dunno, I like a good contrasting wheel to be fair!

They actually look fantastic and 'original' in the silver finish, I was only 'thinking out loud' when I mentioned Technical Grey.

The various BBS wheels always look well on a Jaguar, not a fan of the champagne finish they offered on some models though !

Thanks dude! Haha I wonder what champagne looks like :p

We used to see a lot of S-Types and XK's with the champagne wheels, looked nice on certain colour cars but just make me cringe now !

Kind of an 80's vibe even though they were late 90's !

Haha I can imagine, I'm gonna have to google this like. I did consider gold haha.

Oh no !

Not gold.

They are bad enough on an Impreza, especially if it is painted 'kn*bhead blue' as well !
