Hi all, just joined the site and needing some help please. I have just purchased some Adamesh DRLs type 1 and cannot get the fog lights to work.

They come with the the full wire harness and diagram but the fog light wires when connected to the original fog light plug just wont work.

When i disconnect and try original fogs they work, so i know i havent blown any fuses. I know they are polarity sensitive and have tried swapping the connections but still nothing.

My x type is a 2004 2.5 awd. At my wits end here, HHEEEELLLLLPPPP

Hi

If the x-type is like the s-type, its because they use switched negative earth

so you will need two relays to get them to work, the jaguar uses a permanent feed to the light, then the control module switches the earth to bring the light on

if you get stuck, let me know and i will do you a quick drawing

cheers

Joe

Hi Joe, thanks for the info. Can you tell me what type of relays i will need to buy and where to get them? Are they something i vcan get from maplins?

Also, do they connect to each end of the harness?

Thanks

Hi

I used the standard Jaguar relays, micro relays like in the fuse box, picked up about a dozen from my local scrapyard for a couple of quid

the relay 1 converts the negative switched to a positive switched and add relay 2 if you want the DRL to go off when the main lights come on

converted my fogs to led DRL and LED fogs,

I also converted the indicators to DRL/indicator, here a link to my conversion, which can just be unplugged when no longer wanted DRL/INDICATOR

relay number are correct for jaguar/ford micro relays

cheers

Joe

Hi Joe, just spoke to the supplier Adamesh and they said i wont need a relay.

I have managed to get the fogs working after lots of messing around. I tested direct with the battery and all is ok.

The problem i am left with now is trying to find a live feed for the DRLs. Once i have connected them the fogs will work.

Any help please?

Thanks.

Hi

I picked up a like feed from the fuse box

Also if your fog/drl has 3 wires on it, 1 feed 12v for fog and 1 feed for drl and 1 earth, if you have connected them to the original fog wiring, then when you switch the fogs off, the drl will also go off, as the jaguar switches the earth off, which will turn both fog and drl off

cheers

Joe
