1965 English Jag

Recommended Posts

This Jaguar was my Father's baby. He bought it from a gentleman in San Diego, CA around 1984 or 85. It was made in England and the previous owner had it shipped to CA. Rather than pay to ship it back, he sold it to my Dad. My Dad drove it every day and worked on it about twice as often. When he lost his legs in 1998, I inherited the car. Not having my Father's mechanical prowess nor a large amount of money to keep the car running, it sat our driveway for almost 10 years. My Dad passed away in 2004 and I started working to get this old girl on the road again. I had it running and was working with a local Jag expert starting to restore it. In 2006 I moved to PA but made arrangements for the mechanic to keep the car and continue working on it. Unfortunately, that became cost prohibitive very quickly. I then had the car shipped to PA where it is now. It spent its first few years safely tucked away in the garage and I often talked about getting back into restoring it. Well, here we are 10 years later and no progress has been made toward that goal. The poor old girl has been sitting under a tarp in my driveway (can you believe the wife actually wanted to park her car in the garage?). While I don't want to let it go, I have no choice and think she can do more good for someone else. So, here I am. The car is registered in CA as inoperable and does not run. All the parts are here, some in the back seat and some in the trunk. There is some discrepancy about the age of the vehicle. It is registered as a 1964 but the vin and engine number say its 1965. $2500.00 (OBO) gets you this magnificent piece of Jaguar history.

I think I'm correct in saying that the vast majority of users here are in the UK. If you want to try selling it abroad then it would be worth pointing out how easy it can be to export/import cars between US/UK respectively. Showing that you're willing to organise what's necessary on your side would surely help swing any potential buyers who are intimidated by the idea of importing a car. You are on the right coast for it to come in this direction at least!

We get a lot of rust here and so the state of your cars bodywork would be a pivotal issue and worth mentioning in your advert. I hope you find it a good home.
