Just picked up brand new XF. Very happy but.....  tried to watch a film while waiting for a train at eurotunnel but frustrated to find the power save shutdown cannot be avoided.   Unless anyone knows different. 

Does it on my new XE when i'm parked listening to the radio after 3mins it shuts down

don't think you can alter it, nothing in the settings, apparently most new cars do the same, 

seems strange to me .

Hi Andy, and welcome to the club.

I was told when I bought my s type four  years ago that if the battery was getting low unesstial equipment would shut down first to make sure that essential pieces of equipment  could function.  I know that it is a new car, but batteries are batteries and even a new one can use up power.

Just a thought.

No way of stopping it turning off the same as the radio, its to protect the battery from draining, only way is to keep engine running

 

I wonder if manufacturers will start thinking about a leisure battery, like a boat for example, a bit over the top some may think, but it wouldn't have to be big just to run radio & 12v sockets......perhaps they have🤔

Surely if they had an "accessory" setting rather than leaving the ignition on it would use less power.
