Hi everyone. As the title suggests I am new to Jaguar!

Currently owning a Clio 197 RS, buying a Jag is completely opposite to what I'm use to!

I collect my new XFs Portfolio next Monday. Hoping I have made the right choice in model and spec.

Welcome to the club, Haydn,

Certainly a Jaguar is somewhat different to a Clio.  In fact, it is a lot different to many other cars.

When Ian Callum was designing the XF he sat in the driving seat of the Mk2 Jaguar  and tried to find what it was that made Jaguars somewhat different.  His conclusion was "atmosphere".  And it is very true.

I have owned and drive my S Type, the predecessor of the XF, and the successor of the Mk2 Jaguar, and I can still feel the atmosphere.

You will enjoy your Jaguar.  As an aside, what engine has you car got?

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Peter,

I agree they are completely different to any other car I have looked at..

I did not know that about the design of the jaguars.

I went for the 3.0 V6 275bhp

Hi Haydn,

I guess you have gone for for the diesel engine, which is an updated version to meet EU6 regulations, and basically the larger version of the engine [2.7 diesel] that my s type has. A very good engine designed by Ford and Peugeot.

The style and design of Jaguar cars still shows some of the qualities of earlier Jaguars, and if you look carefully at the Jaguar F type -- sports car --  you will see similarities to the famous E Type of the sixties, and looking carefully at the XF you will see similarities with the s type of the eighties.

When the Mark 2 Jaguar was first shown, Bill Lyons [who was a Lancashire man] who founded Jaguar used the words "Grace, Pace and Space" and that really remains the motto of Jaguar.

Regards,

Peter.

Haydyn,

Welcome to the Forum, lovely car, I previously (a couple of cars back had an X-Type) and only got my second Jag 8 weeks ago but I already love it, In all Jaguars I have driven (and I have driven a few dating back to the 3.8 mk2 and through the XJ6s of the 70s to my Xtype and now XF) you always feel that you are "wrapped" into the vehicle.  I have never experienced this sort of "atmosphere" in any other make.

Enjoy it and many happy miles.
