Redex & other fuel additives

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any experiernce of using Redex or any other fuel additives. Are they worth using ?

Hi Seamus and welcome to the Club.

What engine does you car have?

If it is a diesel engine, I would recommend Millers Eco Plus [diesel] which I use and which keeps the fuel system clean.  Since starting to use it a couple of years ago I have never had the engine amber warning light come on telling me the EGR valves needed cleaning.

I also recommend you use Premium Fuel as it does give a better mpg and a smoother ride.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi all,

Totally agree with Old Peter. Millers is great stuff and the premium fuel goes without saying 😊

Hi mate, I’ve been putting Millers Eco Max Diesel Power in my 58 X Type 2.0d, it’s quieter and a lot more responsive.

Not sure on MPG increase but since having a glow plug warning, limp home experience I only run premium diesels, or normal shell/BP with Millers in. I’ve been told to avoid cheap nasty supermarket diesel too.

Hi Luke and welcome to the club.

The mpg on my s type has had a slight improvement by using premium diesel and a suitable additive, but I use both on the basis that the engines used by Jaguar are top cars and deserve top class fuel.

Regards,

Peter,

Thank you Peter. Gratefully appreciated advice.

My thanks to all of you. My car is an XE Sport with the 2 litre x 180hp deisel engine. I have been using Shell V Power fuel for the last 3 weeks. Definately a small but noticeable difference in power and response. Cannot be sure about more miles per gallon. Have not put any additives in yet but will get some on my next trip to Halfords.

Once again, thank you all.
