belt/chain?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My car is 2009 2.2 diesel auto. Please can someone confirm wether timing belt or chain. If belt when to change. Thanks

Cheers

Rod

Hi Rod

Your engine is equipped with a Timing Chain (see image below for layout) and it is worth noting that failure is usually a result of poor lubrication (e.g. infrequent oil changes and incorrect/cheap oil).

Hi..I have a lovely x type Jaguar estate 4WD petrol automatic 2005 and wonder if it has a chain or belt drive can anyone tell me.

…it has done just 100,000 miles…and although it seems a bit girlie to say so…it is making a ticking noise when idling..can’t hear it inside but evident outside. The service records don’t mention it having a belt changed.

thankyou…

Hi Liz,

Welcome to Jaguar Owners club🙂

Its a perfectly valid question.

I checked its a chain.

Kind Regards,

Julie.

Does car have regular oil and filter changes?

Regards, John
