Hi,

I've recently purchased a beautiful XJR import from Japan. I've had the car inspected by a Jaguar specialist and everything is spot on apart from the sat nav which is obviously set up for Japanese homologation. The specialist tried a UK disc but to no avail. He suggests trying to source a second hand unit from a breaker and has quoted £300 plus and that's just for the unit??? Does anyone have any experience of similar problems? I'd appreciate any help.

Kind regards

Phil

Hi Phil,

I find your problem a little curious.  I am assuming that the disc you have currently in your XJ R is a Denso, which I believe is 25% owned by Toyota.  Denso is a huge international company with a Coventry address :-

Denso Automotive.

Eden Road,  Coventry. CV2 2TB,   Tel No: 02476 843410.

It might be worth a 'phone call,

There is also Denso Manufacturing Ltd, Queensway, Telford,  TF1 7FS,   01952 608 500

Regards,

Peter

Hi Peter,

That's very helpful. I'll give them a try.

Thank you

Phil

hi

I would say the nav unit in the boot needs the software updating

the video for the touch screen comes from the nav unit in the boot

if you keep your eye open on ebay nav units can be bought for £50 but the newest map is from 2012, which is quite out of date now

I updated my touch screen to jagdroid, Ben willcox makes them, and you can use all the original equipment and also the unit is android, so you can stream music from your phone, play mp3's, music and video's, add front and rear camera's, use apps like tomtom, google maps  and even surf the web, well worth it if its a keeper

for more info  look here https://jaguar.willcoxonline.com/

also if you contact ben he will tell if yours can be converted to engish easily

cheers

Joe
