what mileage should I expect from rear tyres on XKR,had new Michelin fitted about 6 months ago and after 5000 miles they are almost down to legal limits.

Hi Terry,

That mileage does seem to be not what i would have expected from new tyres.  I would be inclined to go back to the garage that supplied and fitted the tyres to seek their opinion.

Regards,

Peter.

If it is not the wheelspin start at the traffic lights then it is probably something mechanical. Certainly whoever fitted the tyres should be consulted. Is the wear even across the whole tyre? Any photo of the tyres? A garage may also look at suspension bushes etc which if worn could cause excessive wear. Tyre pressures also.

What was the outcome of this?

Cheers,

Steve...

Severe wearing on mine caused by v poor alignment. Poor tyre pressure causes wear on the edges.

Just replace them with new set of tires. Make sure they are properly aligned this time.
