I own a 2018 XF Sportbrake. When I travel to France the Incontrol Touch Pro will not connect to the internet. All works fine in UK.  Both My smartphone and the car use a giffgaff SIM with Goodybag and cash balance. I have checked that roaming is enabled on the giffgaff accounts. The smartphone works OK in UK and France but not the car.

 

If I connect my car by wifi to my phone as a wifi hotspot then I get an internet connection.  I have checked all the roaming settings in the car are set correctly.  I have brought htis problem up with my local dealer but they are unable to help. 

Does anyone have any ideas that will help solve this frustrating problem?

Hi Bob,

I do not know the XF touchscreen Sat Nav system but on the s type you have to set the system to the country in which you are.  It worked well for me in Ireland.

Hi Bob,

Peter is right (for the XF as well). I often travel to Ireland to visit in-laws and just before boarding the ferry, I have to choose 'IRL' as the 'region' when selecting a destination. Same when returning, have to choose 'GBR' as the region.

Hi again Bob,

Having said all of that, your system is probably a lot more modern, so possibly none of the above applies 😞. Still maybe worth checking for a country/region option though.
