bearing noise whining from rear

hi i am a first time jag owner

i have a 2004 s type 2.5 v6 manual with 112k on the clock well the car drives fine but there is a very irritating bearing noise above 20mph and it gets louder till about 50 then doesnt get any louder just stays the same.i know the rear wheel bearings are done in pairs so could it be both wheel bearings? its just the noise sounds like its coming from the midddle rather than one side so i was thinking if its both sides it could sound as if its coming from the middle?

i know the diff fluid should be done at 100k i dont know if its been done,but surely a diff wouldnt sound like a bearing? and there would be other issues it would be causing i would imagine but as i said the car drives fine apart from the irritating noise!

could be the diff,

if its wheel bearing, it usually goes quiet, when you shift the weight to the other side, when going around corners

either way, the both a pain to do, diff would most probably be cheaper buy used spare, wheels bearings are also a pain, getting hub off can be awkward, for some reason the driveshaft has locktight on the splines, where it goes into the hub, so you need a descent puller to get the hubs off

Hello just yesterday I had my wheel bearing done near side rear. I was experiencing aloud humming noise and sometimes a wobbling sound at 40 mph cost me £187 that inc bearing the place I use used a stethoscope to make sure. It was the bearing all the best

thanks guys,i am having new rear shocks and springs and all the bushes and arms are bing done next week plus two rear wheel bearings and a diff Oil change

i will let you know if this solves my problem
