New Member with X-Type 3.0 Sovereign Estate

Featured Replies

Hi All. I have just registered for the Owners' Club.  I bought a low mileage '06 X-Type 3.0 Sovereign Estate about 2.5 years ago.  I wanted 6 cylinders, 4 wheel drive, an estate, reasonable performance, traditional good looks, and something which may one day become a classic.  Time will tell!.  So far I'm very pleased with the car.  Inevitably, a 14 year old car is going to have some issues.  I've been through the transfer box heartache (now OK), but nothing else major, except now an intermittent fault with central locking (no response from the key fob) has maybe become permanent.  I'll make a specific entry on this on the forum.  I hope to meet many of you in the years to come.

Really smart looking car.

Sounds like battery needs replaced in the fob or a sticky or bad connection inside the fob. Refurb kits are readily available on fleabay at a reasonable cost. Same happened with mine when I first got her.

Plus 1 for the above, mine was the same

Welcome to the Club, Peter.

I had a 2.5 AWD saloon that colour and thoroughly enjoyed it.  Three scroats borrowed it and managed to get 4 years each in one of the Queen's premises.

I will look out for you - I don't flash my headlamps often though.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks for the suggestions regarding fob battery or poor contact.  However, when locking stops responding, it won't respond to either key, including one with a new battery.  Several times, the car has unlocked the driver's door on first key press, then not responded to the second press, or then any other button.  So far it has responded again after a couple of days, although the latest occurrence was for about a week.  I'll keep trying different things and let you all know if I solve it.
