Trying to get the service done on the auto gearbox. Has anyone got the 2007 S Type Jaguar, Autobox drain plug socket / spanner that I could loan / hire. Will forward deposit to ensure return and cover postage. My garage has been attempting to get one for weeks now.

Regards,

Alan.

HI

you dont really need one for the sump, as it has to be replaced anyway as its the filter, so just slacken the pins so its drains

the fill/level plug is at the side, I found a short allen key works best with a spanner over it

cheers

Joe

no special tools are required, just allen keys, 12mm allen key for drain and 8mm allen key for level/fill plug in the side. the kit in the pic is just a waste of money

I wish you'd communicate your enthusiasm to the mechanic working on Huxley's car. Waste of money? tell that to an approved Jaguar dealer. I'll bet my 1-2 2-1 gear change is smoother than yours. etc etc.

Ooo but it is lovely! I do like to see tools neatly stored in a custom case. Even if I never use them.😀

So I am not the only nutter ,I did have a Chobert riveter in a lovely mahogany box , I hadn't used it since 1960 ,some toe rag nicked it out of my garage and Ill bet he didn't now what it was.

Ive done this service myself a few times and never used any special tools

and the gear changes in my car are perfect, but saying that it does have a silky smooth 400bhp plus v8

Thanks to all contributors, Gearbox service done, silky smooth box and better, smoother pull away. Just had a smooth uneventful drive down to Spain. Love this car.
