The central locking stopped working on my 2013 XF Luxury after our mechanic disconnected the battery.

I took the car to our auto electrician who uses Autologic software to recode the keys to the ECU.

He managed to reset the 2 security modules but when trying to recode the keys they are coming up as failed to recode.

He called in a locksmith to reset the keys but when he logged in the one module has the chassis number as expected but the other module just has symbols and not the chasis number.

Has anyone else come across this and if so do you know how to fix it as the car right now is totally dead in the water as the car will not recognise the keys and we cannot recode a new key to it.

Bad luck. Jaguar should have placed a large notice on the battery stating 'DO NOT DISCONNECT WITHOUT A SLAVE BATTERY'.

Jaguar know about this and issued a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin). Jaguars answer is to replace the Central Junction Box (CJB) and Rear Junction Box (RJB) though re=coding using Autologic normally works. Presumably, either the CJB or the RJB has re-coded but the other one has not. Might be a case of having to buy whichever one has not re-coded.

Hopefully, other will be along with their views.

Hi

I feel your pain. After flat battery during lockdown I had non-operating rear doors, thankfully sorted under warranty. This has come up before on this forum and it sounds like there is a garage in Milton Keynes who seem better than most called E&E. Might be worth trying them. Previous thread is here:

Good luck

John

Update on this, we had to reprogramme th CJB all is working except the car will not start and mechanic is struggling to reset the immobiliser.

My understanding is that the Jaguar TSB specifies changing the CJB AND RJB so perhaps this also needs coding, just a thought.

Further update both rear and central junction boxes have been recoded, car is recognising the keys, bad news is the car will not start seems as if the immobiliser is stuck on.

Plus side is the central locking is now working 🤣

I've made a notice that I've placed in a plastic sleeve with "DO NOT DISCONNECT BATTERY UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY - PLEASE READ"  with notes explaining why not, and stuck it to the top of my battery, because there's no doubt I'll forget if and when it next needs to go in to a garage for something.
