Hi there, first time post, and looking for help! I have a 2002 X type 2.5 Automatic. Sometimes the reverse gear won't engage - not all the time but often enough to be annoying! Has anyone any ideas what the problem might be? Otherwise the car drives perfectly. The car was laid up for close to a year, not sure if that has anything to do with it  My worry is that the gearbox is on the way out! It has 102k miles on the clock. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jeff --I wouldn't say the box was on its way out I found someone saying---

Check your fluid level. The first gear to notice that there's a lack of transmission fluid is always reverse. Don't leave it long or damage will be done and also check your linkage ???
