CHANGE HEADLIGHT BULBS (FULL and DIPPED)

Featured Replies

Can anyone point me to a listing/submission/video on how to change the headlight bulbs. Am going to upgrade all of them to Osram Night Breakers. Is it a straight forward and easy job on the S Type. Are there any points to be careful with or restrictive matters that I should note. Any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks and Regards, John

hi

if its a normal s-type there quite straight forward, unlike the R's where its a bumper off job to replace the bulbs

Ive used Ring xenon 150, very good light and had lasted 2 years now, tried the osram ones and they only lasted 4 months

they also do ring xenon 200, which are suppose to be 200% brighter, which I will be fitting soon.

dont press on the bulb holders too much, as the adjuster are the weakest link in the headlights and break very very easy, meaning the headlights have to be stripped and adjuster replaced

cheers

Thanks Joe.

Pleased I do not have R model. Have not bought the replacement bulbs yet. Listening to your experience with Osram I think I shall change my choice of bulb and go for the Ring Xenon 200. Not a bulb I have heard of but no doubt they are readily available somewhere on the internet. Gently gently I shall approach the change over.

Many thanks. Best Wishes and Regards, John

As per usual I have found quite a number of sellers that are offering replacement headlamp bulbs, however not unusually there are many that cannot or will not advise which model is needed for the 2005 S Type. I guess this because they plainly do not know the products they are offering for sell. I never have and never will but from a seller who cannot answer questions about the products they are promoting.

Have now, on recommendation from this Forum (thank you Joe), purchased RING 200 Xenon bulbs @ £30 a pair for H7 dipped beam.

Hi John,

Have you changed the bulbs yet, and if so are they worth it?  I'm thinking of doing the same myself.

What about the full beams?

Yes the bulbs are changed, and in my humble opinion, are worth while doing. Not the cheapest bulbs but appear to have the claimed longest life, of their type. I paid £29.98p for the pair.

Did not change the full beam bulbs because I found the existing ones were adequate and powerful enough.

Best Wishes, John

Hi John,

Thanks for the update, I'll definitely be doing that shortly. Where did you get them from?

Good luck with your other issues!

Bought mine from Ebay, which was the cheapest source of that actual manufacturer at the time.
