Electrical Diagnosis

Any experience please? 2010 3.0 V6 Sport XF

My door locks are gradually getting worse, to the point where it is very difficult to get them to deadlock on pressing the remote and I now constantly get the dreaded double beep.

Also, my interior light keeps playing up. Sometimes it won`t turn on when I open the door, sometimes it flashes when I`m driving, sometimes it doesn`t go off after I start the engine. I have re set it many times, yet it persists.

And Bluetooth connection to my phone has started dropping out mid conversation and I need to re dock the phone. This also happens with my partners phone, so I know it is an issue with the car.

Anyway!! Could these 3 issues be connected? Is there a fuse or relay that is common to these 3? I don't have a diagnostics tool unfortunately.

Any help???

Could this possibly be connected to the not unusual Jaguar problem of being heavy on current draw from the battery and all sorts of things going wrong when the battery gets low.

I keep my S-Type on song with a regular weekly charge on my QTEK MS.7

It will pay in the long run to also invest in a OBD2 Code reader.

Good luck with the problem solving and Best Wishes, John

Hi Carl,

The first place will always be the battery, make sure it is fully charged. That said, XF’s do seem to have problems with door locks and once you start getting problems with them the only fix is to replace. The interior light is directly linked to the door lock mechanism and is further indication of door lock problems.

A battery maintainer and a Jaguar related code reader should definitely be on your shopping list.

Check to see if you have sitting water in lowest point in your boot the wires might be rotting as happened to me and insurance company said this was wear and tear and refused to pay out.
