Hi Julian,

Apart from the lack of comment on this thread, have you made a decision on the conversion? I'm interested as with the ever increasing cost of fuel I'm considering the same modification.

I think, providing you find a suitable garage to complete the conversion, it will over a few years pay for itself but I guess the key thing is fiinding the suitable garage. Is there anywhere near you?

Regards,

Dave

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the advice, 40+ mpg sounds good - I'm getting 26 mpg (on average) but my S-Type is a 4.2l (imagine)

Best regards,

Dave

I think its a great idea that more of you convert to LPG.  As the price of LPG is rising faster than petrol, the more user the more tax HMG takes the less tax will be taken on petrol. So all in all a cynical bstard like myself thinks it is good that you will get rid of the boot space for a big tank. I remember Dads army when they kad a gas baloon on the van roof. :D :D :D :D :D

i think in australia eveyone converted to lpg and government whacked the price up, the same as we converted to diesel here because it was cheaper and now look diesel is about 5p more a litre, its a game of cat and mouse i was thinking of buying an s type diesel but i think i may b aswell to buy a 2.5 petrol .

Hi there ive recently bought a xj executive in tip top condition and am going to convert it to gas,but not over here as they charge too much. I had my last car converted to lpg and it was the best thing ever ,but i had it done in belarus [only because i go there 2 times a year as i have a farm there] but also it only costs£480 to have done,1/3 of the price of here .well worth doing mega savings on fuel bill and that means your giving less in fuel tax to the government to waste
