Hi all

just got a 2001 (early) S Type Sport

lovely car full history and so far loving it, other than someone lost the valve adaptors for the wheels - ebay is my friend

looking forward to good advice and help on here and perhaps meetings

Welcome to the club mate.

ebay is always a good place to go.. looking at the mesh grilles for mine and dreaming :)

i would go for the dark blue surround but then all the rest of my brightwork needs changing, so will go for chrome surround

They aren't cheap are they (fresh back from ebaying!) - I might just buy the powdercoated mesh and cut it/fab it myself. How hard can it be (although no idea what holds it in there!)

no rush though as I said. only had the car a week! :-) - Service first. aesthetics later  - as it doesn't look bad as is.

HI Simon,

Welcome to the club and Jag ownership.  Is this your first?

Best regards,

Dave

Hi - and thanks

yes it is my first Jag - a bit spontaneous to be honest. went to get a sensible family car (small mpv type thing) and came back with this..

I still maintain its a sensible family car - although the boot is shallower than one first imagined :-)

I've had a chequered car history from Landrovers finest, Audi A and S8, Merc E class, Beemer 7 series - all about same age

So far am loving this car. seemingly in very good shape and even managed to verify the fully stamped book with its originating dealer in Leicester

Hoping to keep it for a while so will be on here a fair bit for tips and help!

I must admit the purchase of mine bordered on the spontaneous - saw the car advertised while at the barbers  - went from there to view the car complete with a test drive.  That afternoon organised the AA to come and complete their detailed vehicle inspection - my fate was sealed :D.

On getting home from the test drive, I mentioned it to the wife, you know, run it past her, test the water.......  She asked if was the shark nosed one :o, could this be an accepted path to mid-life crisis and ownership of an XK / XKR?

To cut a long story short, I said I was being sensible opting for the S-Type V8, as a family car - well it does have two more doors than my previous cars!

Best regards,

Dave

So glad i am not alone buying a jag on impulse. I saw mine parked at the side of the road and thought "Oooh, pretty". It was mine 2 days later. :)
