Many thanks.  Yes, the manual I downloaded includes the instructions that start with "Vehicles with touch-screenFollow these steps to pair your phone with the vehicle:1. Switch the vehicle's ignition ON (position II).2. Press the Phone mode button, to the left of the touch-screen.3. Using the touch-screen keypad, enter the code '##3#*#',"   however, I am unable to get to the third instruction.  I never get the keypad, I just get the one line message that there is no phone connected.  If I could get to the touchscreen keypad I might be able to make some progress!

I have just looked at the 2005 brochure for the X Type and see that the SE model doesn't include bluetooth in the standard specification whereas the  Sport Premium model does - http://www.jeff-young-design.com/WorldWideWagons/In-Depth/2006-Jaguar-X-Type-Brochure.pdf

I suspect this means I ain't got it!!!

Thanks

One thing to check. Is there a microphone fitted above the driver area in the side of the interior light cluster?

If not then you don't have bluetooth.

Thanks again.  I can confirm my car DOES have the microphone unit on the driver's side of the overhead light cluster / controls so assume this does indicate at least some level of integration is present in the car.

If you ask nicely at your local Jaguar Dealer, they will do a printout from the Direct Dealer Warranty System giving the full build specification of your vehicle.

Graham,

Funny you should suggest this!  I have just returned from a visit to Harwoods in Brighton, and read your message, where the young lady at the service desk did exactly that for me.  She had all the history of the car as the previous owner had used them for servicing and the car had originally been supplied by one of their other branches.  She confirmed that despite the presence of the microphone the car had never been equipped with bluetooth as part of its standard specification so I can put that query to bed once and for all.  Thanks for all the responses though.
