Welcome to the Club, Keith.

I think a visit to a friendly dealer might assist.

Regards,

Peter.

Cheers Peter, but nearest dealer is a 60 mile round trip so I thought I might seek advice first.

  Thanks !

You did the right thing, Keith.

It all depends on the wheel sizes.  There are three wheel sizes that will fit  the S Type  --  there was a recent discussion on their compatibility with each other.

Whether they would fit different cars I do not know as other issues do come into play.   A proper spare wheel in the boot does give  more comfortable feeling.  Some member might have done it, though.

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Peter, It is only one of those "get you home wheels" so I didn't know wether to keep it or not when I sell my S Type. As I have used it twice on the S Type and found it very handy.

  Cheers,

  Keith.

Hi Keith,

The "get you home wheel" is a space or weight saver, I suppose.  I had one on my x type, but have got a proper one on my s type with matching alloy rim.

While I have only had one puncture in the last 15 years, I do like the idea of a "proper" spare.

What have you got on your XF?

Regards,

Peter.

Hi Peter,

I have only one of those blow up kits, no spare supplied from new, so was going to keep the space saver as an emergency backup.

  Cheers,

   Keith.

Hi Keith,

If it fits on the hub it should be OK as a get you home.  Those blow up kits do work on an ordinary or slow puncture, but on bad blow out are not to be rely used, so a spare, in my opinion, is essential.

It might be worth having a look on eBay or a a breakers site to see what is around.  Having a proper spare is a good selling point.

Regards,

Peter.

Ok Peter will take your advice and look for a "proper" spare.

  Thanks again,

    Regards,

      Keith.
