  • Hi Josh,   I have had a look around on sites such as Auto Trader and Piston Heads.  Prices for  02 plates seems to vary between £1250 and £2200, and a lot will depend of mileage, service history, and

Paying for everything myself Mike , as insurance companies are useless, but things are getting better .

Very true Trevor, in that case, my sympathies are with you and I hope it's not too painful

Mike,

Thank you Mike, compared to the poor souls in Somerset I've got off very lightly indeed . We're used to the rain in ilfracombe anyhow, it's more like the tide coming down than ebbing and flowing, and at least the XJ has double glazing.

ATB,

Trevor

I wonder how much water you could shift with 5 ltrs of supercharged Jag connected to a big pump?

Maybe you could loan it out?

MIke,

It is worth looking into. But to top it all we had an earthquake yesterday, I think big G has got it in for the West Country, but all is ok now

Crikey Trevor, what on earth did you do in your last life?!?! Were you Ghengis Khan or something?

I used to babysit him Mike , but on the bright side it's the wife's 28th wedding anniversary tomorrow, so to cheer myself up I'm going to see Willie and the Bandits !

This is another pic of my car taken in civilisation (Guildford, Surrey)

Looks lovely Trevor, enjoy the concert and I hope the good lady enjoys her anniversary

Dear Peter,

Works well with the Supercharger on my XJ also

ATB,

Trevor

I bet it is!  Low flying springs to mind!

When the West of England is dried out you will enjoy it more.

We are very lucky up here, but still can't understand why the Government has been so slow in doing something a bit more serious than they have.

Regards,

Peter.

It's because were not London or the home counties

ATB,

Of course, Trevor.  In the Midlands and the North we felt the same.  When the Government wanted Coal and Steel they could not do more for those areas.  When the Government decided they didn't need coal and Steel any more we got forgotten.

Regards,

Peter.

Dear Peter,

I agree, the midlands is the north by the way .

But look on the bright side .

I'm glad someone finally agrees with me!! Anywhere North of Bristol is "The North" to me :)

Of course it is Josh, and to prove it .

ATB,

Us Lancashire folk always regarded the South as starting when you crossed the Mersey towards Runcorn, but generally most Northerners regards the Trent as the defining landmark.

I was once asked in London if I was a foreigner.

Regards,

Peter.

There are more Northerners in ilfracombe than there are Devonians, it is know as Liverpool-On-Sea . they say every scouser is either a comedian or a singer, on that basis John Bishop must be one hell of a singer !

But I am taking lessons for when I come oop North in April

ATB,

I had been working in North Wales and indeed lived there, but taking a new job forced a move to Sheffield where most people thought I was Welsh.  I had to tell them that I was worse than that ---  I was a Lancastrian, and I had been sent to Yorkshire as a missionary to teach them how to play cricket and Rugby League.

The Yorkshire accent, and indeed dialect come quite easily.  "Us do it reet in Yorkshire, 'cos that's us job."

Peter.

As matter of fact Peter it is the dead opposite with me. My mother was evacuated to Wales during the war and had a torrid time. to say she disliked the Welsh until the day she died would be an understatement .

She was living in Monmouthsire when she was pregnant with me, at the time Monmouthshire wasn't regarded English or Welsh . As she didn't even want me being accused of being half Welsh she went to Liverpool to her mothers so I was born in England , so unfortunately I'm a mickey mouser. Only lived there for two weeks after my birth though , which is long enough for anyone .

I'd rather be Welsh than scouse !

ATB,

Trevor

Born and lived only 11 miles from Liverpool and lived there for 32 years before emigrating to Wales where I had been working for 5 years, and commuting daily.

I know the city very well and can tell what area people come from.  For instance, John Bishop has an accent that he is putting on as from a small child he lived in a small town called Middlewich which is in-between Northwich and Nantwich.

Regards,

Peter.

Dear Peter,

Didn't realise John Bishop spoke English, but all credit to him for his charity work .I think of of the scousers must now live in Devon .

ATB,

Trevor

My wife is a real scouser,  with no discernible accent at all, Trevor, the ones in Devon are refugees.

A lot of Liverpudlians put on the thick accents, as do Yorkshiremen and Geordies who call it "taakin proppa".

Regards,

Peter.

Dear Peter,

I don't think the scousers in Ilfracombe are very good representatives of the city in all fairness . The opening hours of the Aldi supermarkets really confuse the Geordies

ATB,

Trevor

Back on topic, Josh are you with Jaguar??

  • Author

Hi Mike

Not yet as I am waiting for the cheque to clear, but hopefully that won't take to long. Then I can be an official Jaguar owner!!
