I have a 1998 xj sovereign lwb [308]  and am just getting cool air from heater, even on hot. I changed the water heater pump but the  pump overheated, was told this is due to no water being pulled through by pump, indicating a blockage in matrix.  can I back flush the matrix from pump end using a hose

Welcome to the Club, Robin..

I don't know the answer to that problem, but I am sure someone will.

Peter.

Hi Robin

it should be okay to back-flush the heater matrix and see what comes out.

Once you have done that....bleeding through the hoses either by way of a bleed valve or loosening the hoseclips allowing coolant to flow out...be careful, will be bloody hot!
