I've been a member of this forum and another Jaguar forum since becoming a Jaguar owner a little while ago.

In that time this forum has been brilliant, with every member I've encountered being polite, helpful, friendly and respectful.

Today, I spent a little time on the other forum and have been nothing short of offended! In one topic alone I have, today, been accused of lying by using 'Top Gear' style mathematics whilst discussing my own cars ECU upgrade. Belittled by another member for asking a question to which 'I should already know the answer seeing as I have 35 years experience', and the final straw a few minutes ago, another member reckoned everyone in the discussion to be incompetent and we should mindlessly rip out our brakes, satnavs and phone equipment whilst we're at it to make our cars faster.

It is those very type of people and their comments that have forced me to delete my account on every forum I've ever encountered.......... Except this one.

The JOC is the best I've ever come across and it's a real pleasure to interact with the members on here. I'll be deleting my account from the other forum, but will continue to use this one.

Thanks to all involved

Mick, rest assured that all the members of this forum feel that you have been very helpful.  The best way to help people with problems they have and could have is by using the experiences you have had.

Exchanging views about topics in which people are interested is a great way of assisting people.

An experience that happened to me about 50 years ago taught me something.  My motor cycle had broken down about 4 miles from home one Sunday, and I was pushing it along the road after a day's hard work.  The lads on motor cycles stopped, one got out a toolkit and used his skill and expertise to repair my motorcycle.

Something like that is what this forum about.

Regards,

Peter.

Thanks Peter.

However, here is the latest instalment from another member of the forum in question. I copied and pasted so as to quote it to you here verbatim.

Claimed results must be backed up with evidence - 200BHP unsubstantiated is not credible particularly when coupled with a demonstrable lack of knowledge despite 35 years experience is embarrassing'

I could just be being over sensitive but I find it insulting to say the last given that this guy has no idea what my 35 years experience has entailed.

At one point I was tuning Ford V10 Hill climb racing engines. The ones almost identical to F1 motors and producing 750bhp..... without a turbo!

Hi Mick,

There is a saying over thousands of years old "Experientia docet".  ----  Experience teaches.

Personally my qualifications are from the University of the World.  I once had a person working for me who used to put "Dr" before his name and MA after it, and who was an idiot.  [This does not decry people with academic qualifications, who are usually very modest.]

Give me a person who has done it rather than a person who has the learning how to do it but who has never done it.

That is why the Captain of a ship is the one who who has the same academic qualifications as the most Junior Officer, but far more experience.

Regards,

Peter.

Mick,

It takes all types, and most need to be ignored ; I was even told off for hand jiving at a Nigel Kennedy concert last night in Guildford. The Jaaag ran like a dream there and back though .

I am sure you had an appropriate reply, Trevor!

I said, " I thought we were here to enjoy ourselves, or have I got the concept wrong?"

I have ordered my cloth cap from Amazon for when I come up  T' North to Leicester next month

Wise words Jim. I've left the building having been brought down as far as I'm willing to stoop.

What's happening in Leicester? Anything Jaguar related?

Mick,

             No it's Music.

Trevor
