Visited my friendly local Jaguar Dealer this afternoon, test drove a Claret XF Premium Luxury 3.0 Diesel with Ivory Leather and 19" wheels

Loved it to bits, signed up the papers and will be picking up our new pride & joy either Thursday afternoon or Monday

Richard, most of us on here tend to avoid dealers like the plague and use independents.

Must admit I bought my XKR through a Jag dealer last week but I certainly won't get it serviced there as they overcharge and I don;t trust them.

Tell them Thursday will do fine, no reason why they can't have it ready by then, the car sounds fab i'm sure you'll love it.

Peter,

You are correct, forgot about the start of the month, wait until Monday Richard, but don't get me going on road fund licence, I don't see why I should have to pay more, it should be done on mileage

Interesting topic.   I have put a new topic in the Lounge so I don't fall foul of myself!

I hear what you are saying about the main dealers, but they were very compettitive on price, they were £1700 cheaper than a local independant that had a similar spec & age car and they had the colour we wanted, the car we bought is a '59 plate with 59k miles, this is in a local dealer 6 months older but 20k more miles and they gave me exactly what we were expecting on the px throw in 12 months Jaguar warranty and it really starts to look like a good deal http://www.chelmerbridge.co.uk/used-cars/jaguar-xf-3-0d-v6-premium-luxury-4dr-auto-chelmsford-201402201946478

regarding the road tax there is no cheap way out..........dealers are no longer allowed to cash inn the road tax, so they advise clients to do it, so the car we are buying has no road tax and needs it, and we cash in the road tax on the old car, so if we do it before the end of the month we get all of June back on the old car but pay for may on the new one, if we do it in June, we dont pay for may on the new car but we lose June on the old car........its a lose - lose situation the tax man is the only one who gains :(

Yes, Richard.  HMRC -  Big Score -v- everyone else. Nil.

I always buy cars from a main dealer because of the warranty and the way they are presented for sale.

But I never have them serviced by a main dealer because they are far more expensive than independent Jaguar Specialists.

Enjoy you Jaguar  --  mine is getting a good wash at the moment .

Regards,

Peter.

You say "the way they are presented for sale" when we viewed and drove the car it was pristine, the only thing I would say is that the boot could have done with a quick vacuum.........but they insisted, that is the car in the raw and it will look much better  :)

I also would not use them for servicing, I may even do it myself, you know its been done then ;)
