  1. I have for sale a car cover for the XK (X150) convertible, made by Classic Additions - their 'Ultimate Outdoor Car Cover', which Classic Additions will sell you for £200. It is absolutely brand new, unused, and has never been out of its storage bag. It is an unwanted gift, and one year old, so it hasn't been on a shelf for twenty years... I can't take a picture, because I no longer have an XK to hang it on, and I suspect I'd never get it back in the bag neatly anyway... It is no use to me now, so has to go. I'd have thought it would make an ideal Christmas present for somebody, and I'd think it ought to be worth perhaps £150 or so. Make me an offer...
  2. Good evening all. The headlamp washers in my '07 X150 (18K miles) are not working. The pump runs perfectly on the bench, but not on the car. I'm wondering where to start fiddling with it first. Is there by any chance a relay, in the Power Distribution Box, which is the last component in the circuit before the pump itself? If so, can anyone tell me how to get at said Power Distribution Box? I can't find it in the Workshop Manual...
  3. Thanks Joe. I have a workshop manual, but I haven't found any general arrangement exploded diagrams yet, just removal and refitting instructions for particular parts. Oh for a Haynes...
  4. As I get round to tidying up the '07 XK, which had a minor front end shunt not too long ago, it turns out that though the bumper skin and beam have been replaced, the two parts behind the beam (12 and 13 in the picture) have not. That may rather explain the mess of loose wiring, then... I don't suppose anybody has a pic, or knows where there is one on t'net, of an X150 XK front view with the bumper removed? It would make life easier if I knew what it SHOULD look like... And while I'm on, the front parking sensor loom is also missing. The sensors are there, but not the loom; bodging git! Can anybody tell me the part number I need?
  5. Mileage is confirmed. I've been in touch with the Irish dealer who sold it; they will also send me the service history (one owner, bought 1/1/2007; serviced Aug 2008, Jan 2010, May 2012, Jun 2013 and Aug 2015. The odometer reading at the last service was 24239 km (15,150 miles). I won't tell you how little I paid for it, but it was cheap cheap CHEAP (no service history, needing minor bodywork, mileage unverified). Even allowing for £900 for the bodywork and a machine polish (finished tomorrow or Friday), and a few other bits and pieces, it's very much a result. Pics to follow. I'm a happy bunny, believe me.
  6. Thanks Joe, but mine's a 2007. HOWEVER... I found the exploded diagram I wanted on a US supplier's website (Jaguar Parts International), and further digging found that they also list part numbers. Whoopee! Using that info, I can be sure that I get what I need, not what some (other...) hopeful thick-fingered numpty thinks he can palm me off with.
  7. SNG = NBG... (as far as exploded diagrams go, at least). I found the diagram, though without part numbers, on an American spare parts website. I think I'll see if Powerbell (local indie) can let me have a look, and take a pic or two, under the front of an XK up on a ramp if they have one in soon, just so I can visualise what I need, then I can start ringing round the breakers.
  8. The '07 XK I recently bought had been in a minor shunt in its previous incarnation in Ireland (and yes, the price reflected this), and the bumper undertray and the plastics attached to it had not been replaced. I'll look for a full set of these bits from the various specialist breakers (unless anyone on here has them sitting around doing nothing, he said hopefully - but not expectantly...), but it would be very helpful if I knew exactly what I need. Can anyone tell me where I can find exploded diagrams, ideally with part numbers as well? Will a paid subscription to TOPIx get me what I want, and are private individuals eligible anyway?
  9. See the next thread down...
  10. I'm looking for a Rottweiler with AIDS... If the trick worked with the Mercedes, it might well work with the Jaguar. My '08 E-class has a rolling code set-up, as did my '03 and '04 E-classes before it, so I assume that one recently taken had no lesser security features, but it went. If the scanner can capture the code, the Keyless Go and Keyless Start will surely both recognise it? Re your previous post, it's a bit tricky checking the car is locked unless you put the key fob down some distance away. Is there any way of locking the car without using the key fob? Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean everybody isn't out to get me...
  11. I'd have said the image of the BMW driver had improved in recent years; it's the Audis that are most driven by unpleasant, pushy people you wouldn't want to invite to dinner these days.
  12. I've just been reading on another forum of a theft of a car with Keyless Go, by the thieves detecting and amplifying the key signal from outside the house. How secure is the Jaguar system on my '07 XK? Perhaps it's time to go back in time and invest in a Disklok...
  13. So that's one less lunatic on the roads for six months or so. Better than nothing.
  14. Thank you, gentlemen. A couple more minor faults have shown up; the air conditioning doesn't, and the aerial mast has partially seized. I'll add some R134a and see if that sorts the aircon out, but despite copious oiling and cleaning, the aerial is too stiff for the motor to extend or retract it fully before it cuts out. I expect that masts are readily available. For the wheels, there's a firm in NW London that advertises on eBay - £360 exchange for a set of refurbished wheels, including swapping over the tyres - so I think I'll try them. Pictures will follow once it's sorted. Dennis
  15. Thanks David. I handed over the cash; I knew I would... Judging from the interior, it's definitely done very few miles, so it looks like the mileage is correct. It drives perfectly; no qualms on that score. The bodywork has plenty of minor marks, though, so I'll have to get that sorted. Some numpty has scraped the side of his wagon quite heavily right along the front bumper, and that will definitely need a respray, as will the rear bumper right side corner to remove some minor stone chips, and the bonnet is scratched badly enough to need a respray as well. . MIssing/damaged bits? The right rear light cluster needs to be replaced; there's no grille of any sort behind the front bumper below the number plate (broken lugs when said numpty scraped it?); the little pop-out carpet panels in the boot to give access to the light clusters are missing; the parking sensors aren't working. Bizarrely, the DSC warning light came on when I first used the windscreen wipers, then went off the second time I used them, and remained off thereafter. The alloys are in poor condition and need a refurb; I don't believe they have done a low mileage, so I reckon some git has sold the good ones and replaced them with these... I'll get the OBD reader on it soon to see what codes there are, but overall, I reckon it's a genuine car. It's definitely a keeper.
  16. I already have the DVLA UK MoT history, but there's only two tests - 2015 and 2016. The Irish test - NCT (National Car Test) is biennial, but they will only only release info (including mileage, or in their case I suppose it should be kilometreage...) on test results to the registered owner on the date of the test. No hope there, then. I'll try Jaguar HQ tomorrow to see if they can put me in touch with the Irish equivalent to try to get the service history, if any, which would of course have the mileage. So far as the car is concerned, I have no trouble at all in believing that it has only done a very low mileage - very slight signs of wear on the steering wheel, virtually no wear on the pedal rubbers, no sag in the driver's seat, no sign of wear at all on the light-coloured leather gear lever knob. The paintwork needs some attention, as do the wheels, but I reckon it's a good 'un. It's definitely a keeper.
  17. I'll probably be handing over a wad of cash and driving away in a low-mileage, but completely history-free (for the moment) '07 XK (n/a) tomorrow. I've found it on TOPIx, and the build datacard is: 3.07 FINAL DRIVE RATIO 255/35 FRT/285/30 RR ZR20 AUTO DIMMING REAR VIEW MIRROR BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY CASTLE BROMWICH CONTOURED SPORT REAR SEAT CORNERING LAMPS CRUISE CONTROL DRIVER HEATED SEAT-VARIAB TEMP ENGLISH/EXPORT LITERATURE PACK FRONT PARKING AID GLASS BREAKAGE SENSOR HEATED PASS SEAT-VARIABL TEMP HTD/P-FOLD/MEM/A-DIM I/P FACIA MONOTONE-CARAMEL INT CARAMEL CARPET-JAGUAR IRELAND JAGUAR SEAT BELT-CARAMEL KEYLESS ENTRY-PASSIVE MARKETING LEVEL 1 MULTI SLOT CD PLAYER NAV SYS/DYNM RUTE GUDE-TRF MST NAVIGATION DISK - EUROPE POWER 16-WAY DRIV SEAT ADJUST POWER 16-WAY PASS SEAT ADJUST REVERSE PARKING AID SATELLITE DIGITAL AUDIO PREP SPARE WHEEL-MINI ALUM STNG WHL-WOOD/LEATHER SUPERSPORT SUSPENSION WHEEL ARCH SPATS(DNU) WHEELS-8.5X20 FRT/9.5X20 RR WOODEN GEAR SHIFT KNOB LESS AIR PURIFIER SENSOR LESS BREAKDOWN WARNING SIGN LESS FIRST AID KIT LESS HEATED FRONT WINDSCREEN LESS RUN FLAT SYSTEM LESS SOUND SYSTEM (L0) LESS TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING LESS VOICE ACTIVATED CONTROLS I originally thought it was probably from Japan; not so - from Ireland. JLR have confirmed it was made for the Irish market. It may not be too difficult to obtain any service records there are for the car from there though. It looks as though the recorded mileage is true, though it may of course have had the mileage 'corrected' (_= fiddled) before it came across the Irish Sea. It seems a bit poverty-spec, but I don't know how well-specified most of them are. I would have liked a heated front screen, but I can live without that, and the other 'Less' items don't matter to me; in the case of runflats, I'd positively not want them anyway. My must-haves are satnav and rear parking sensors, and it's nice to find it has front parking sensors, too. One thing puzzles me, though. It is "Less Sound System", but has a CD player. Could some kind individual enlighten me on that?
  18. I'm just about to collect a 2007 XK convertible that was re-imported from Ireland in 2015. It is claimed to have very low mileage - 15,000, but not supported by any history. There isn't time to try to check with JLR HQ in Ireland before I go. I've never owned a Jaguar before. Apart from the usual stuff - driver's seat cushion and bolsters, pedal rubbers, steering wheel and gearknob - is there anything else I could/should check that might be a giveaway of higher mileage than that shown?
  19. Joe, none of that vehicle-specific information is offered. I've registered on Topix as an owner; do I have to take out a paid subscription now?
  20. The 4.2. I didn't want the R - been there, done that, with AMG E55ks, with more power to boot. Thanks for the info.
  21. Evenin' All. On Tuesday I will be collecting a 2007 XK with 15000 miles on it, which comes with no history whatsoever. It was first registered in UK in 2015, and I think it was exported new to Japan. Does anybody know whether Jaguar HQ keeps a centralised service database of their cars worldwide, or (more likely) that they will only be able to tell me to where it was exported, and any other info they have will relate only to any work in the dealer network in the UK?
  22. Thank you, David. Yes, the CTEK is good; I have one already. I make a point of using all my cars at least once a week, but I recondition with the CTEK at least every six months anyway. It was advertised as an XK8, but I think you're right; it has the vertical chrome side strip on the front wing, so an X150 XK. Even better... The car itself is 'interesting'. It has the 4.2 engine, and according to the DVLA it was first registered in January 2007, but first registered in the UK in December 2015. Its first UK MoT shows 27000 miles, the second shows 15000, and according to the seller, the odometer was reset to miles from km. It is RHD. There's no history whatever with it. RHD, distances in kilometres, very low mileage and no history? If it was a Mercedes, the odds would strongly be that it was a re-import from Japan. That would not be a problem. Of course, it could have 'had a haircut'; I'll see. I'm going to collect it on Tuesday. I'm quite confident of being able to tell from the interior condition whether it actually has high mileage, and if I'm happy, I'll hand over the money and drive away with a smile on my face. Wish me luck. Dennis
  23. Good evening, all. I'm just about to acquire my first Jaguar - a very low mileage 2007 XK 4.2 convertible. It's a whim purchase, really; an E-class estate is my daily driver - the dogs insist on it... The XK is replacing a 140K mile 1994 SL500, which I like a lot when it's running; the problem is, it spends too much time not running, and I've lost patience with the thing. I'm a decent mechanic, but the older I get the less time I want to spend spannering - I'd rather just be driving... I'm hoping that the XK will give no trouble, but inevitably I'll need a garage sooner or later. I live near Beaconsfield in south Bucks; can anyone recommend a decent indy near me?
