  1. Hello Justin, The SDD/Mongoose that I have I presume is a Chinese clone. The suppliers said that it must not be connected to the internet or it will not work. Therefore when I try to use it, it has the Red notice in the top right corner saying servrt fault. Is this normal?
  2. I wish that someone could tell me why the SDD diagnostics won't read the data on my car
  3. Joe, if and when it starts, it starts without hesitation and I can drive for an hour, have a cup of coffee then it will stat again and drive home so I can't believe that it is air in the fuel system. It is as if the injectors are being inhibited
  4. Yes, glowplugs are working. If I use easystart it will fire but not run. Injecters are being inhibited but no DTC's showing
  5. Hello John, Battery full, turns over rapidly with easystart it will fire but not run. It seems that the injectors are not being activated
  6. 2005 2.7D X200. After overnight, engine will not start unless ignition is switched on and wait 10 minutes. after this it starts immediately. I can switch off and restart immediately normally but the longer the engin is off, the longer I have to leave the ignition switched on before normal start. Any ideas would be appreciated
  7. Regarding the SDD, I have one but although it finds my VIN and all the checks are green, when it tries to run the scan it reads the first 2 modules and then stalls at 13%. after about 5 minutes of trying it gives a notice that it is unable to retrieve the data. I can't figure out what the problem is.
  8. Hello Joe, thank you for your suggestions. Things have moved on a bit since I last posted and the situation as I see it now is that the longer that the engine is stopped, the harder it it to start. For instance I can stop the engine and it will restart immediately after just a few minutes but if I leave it for 20 minutes then it will need probably 5 tries to start it. If I leave it overnight then it will not start at all. but if I leave the ignition switched on (in tank pump running) for 10 minutes then it will start immediately. My thought was that perhaps there was a check valve that was not closing and pressure was leaking back to tank but now having read the workshop manual I see that there is a system that prevents you from running the fuel tank completely empty. At about 5 ltrs in the tank, it will inhibit starting until the tank is filled again. I am wondering if it is this system that is causing my problem. The funny thing is that no DTC are flagging up
  9. Justin, I bought the JLR Mongoose to try and identify the problem. I installed the program on a windows 7 32bit laptop and it seems to function correctly. At least it finds the vehicle VIN but when I select diagnostics, it starts to get the data but at 13% it stops and won't go further. after a while I get a message to data acquisition could not be completed. I have tried it many times but always get the same result. Any ideas?
  10. Can the JLR SDD 165 Mongoose access the immobilizer fault codes on my 2005 S Type
  11. The situation has worsened now as if I try to start the car in the morning, it spins over like crazy but won't start. If I then cycle the ignition on and off about 10 times then it will start straight away. My thinking was that perhaps the check valve in the tank fuel pump was leaking back but when I removed the delivery pipe from the pump, it was full and the fuel did not disappear from the outlet stub, indicating no leak-back. In any case, with the ignition on, the pump runs continuously so switching the ignition on/off shouldn't be the cure. This only happened before if I locked the car but now it happens locked or unlocked and depending on the length of time that it has not run determines the number of ignition cycles I have to make. If it is off for an hour then probably only two. I am still leaning towards a faulty immobiliser but would welcome any constructive comments.
  12. I know that there is an old post about this but I have a similar problem. The difference in my case is that the main car battery is new and fully charged and also not only does this alarm sound but it actually does immobilise the car. the car is a 2005 S type 2.7D So the situation is this: one hot day I heard the beeping noise from under the bonnet of the car. This was not the horn but a high pitched beeping which I had never heard before. Even though I unlocked the car with the fob, it still continued to beep and when I tried to start the engine, although it turned over, it would not start. I then disconnected the main battery and the alarm stopped. After 10 minutes I reconnected the battery but although the alarm did not sound, the engine still would not start. I then connected my iCarsoft diagnostics and it came up with 7 faults on the engine, including crankshaft position sensor, MAF sensors, Turbo boost solenoid, No 6 cylinder injector and others. This was without the engine running and had previously run perfectly. I then cleared all faults and the engine started normally. When I then ran the diagnostics there were no DTC faults. Now, if I leave the car locked overnight, the immobiliser has always activated in the morning. Whether the alarm sounded I don't know as I can't hear it from my bedroom. If I leave the car unlocked then it is fine in the morning. Can anyone advise me as it appears that I cannot access the immobiliser with the iCarsoft LR V3.0
  13. Sometimes I get "Gearbox Fault", "DSC not available" and "Park Brake fault" come up as key switched on. If I cycle the auto gear lever these faults disappear but still will not start. OBD scanner records FAULT:00, PEND:02 These are shown as U0121 Lost communications with ABS control module & U0073 Control module communication bus off (generic) I have disconnected the battery overnight and charged fully but all is still the same

      Hi

These are common and usually caused by a low battery

have you checked the battery voltage, should be above 12.5 volts, if the voltage is lower than this battery may need replacing

also sometimes these faults caused by a low battery will need reseting with jaguar IDS/SDD before they will clear

Ideally you need to get it plugged in to see what faults are listed, generic code readers will only read and clear engine codes, not gearbox, dsc or epb faults,

      cheers

      Joe
