J.O.C. visit to the Heritage Motor Centre
Hi All, So we've had our first meet since I joined the club which was to the Heritage Motor Centre, near Gaydon, the weather held out for us if a little blowy. Small attendance but a solid core of like minded individuals. As always with these types of things there was a little preparation, my S was treated to a wash and deep clean followed up with suitable polish: Yes, it can be said I have two types of cat :) So off to Gaydon: Six members turned up, two with wives. Out cars given pride of place on the Southern Lawn immediately outside the entrance B) From left to right: Olde English (Stewart &Hazel), Brian 2012, Dell & Andi, isis (Geoff) and pablojag1 (Steve)

99T reg 3.0v6 drivers seat
Hi Phillip, Welcome to the forum. One thing you could try which may help diagnose the problem, it is highly likely the seat controller module that may be the problem. You can verify this by swapping the drive and passenger seat modules. Obviously if the passenger seat module works on the drivers seat, it is the module which needs repair of replacement. Obviously if it doesn't work then there is an issue in the seat. Good luck, Dave

X Type bonnet stone chips
Hi Burl, I bought my S-Type this time last year. Generally the bodywork was in very good condition but there were some huge stone chips on the bonnet, when I say stone chips, they were quarries. There were three of them within a 10cm circle, the biggest was 20mm across and 15mm wide and they were down to the metal. The previous owner had them painted - it was a good match but you could see the different layers of paint/laquer. While not outrageous, especially from a distance, the sun in your eyes, squinting, maybe covered in snow ;). I knew I couldn't live with it, thankfully I received a nice bonus from work so got in touch with a company to sort it out. Hoping they were going to address only the quarries illustrated my naivety, the gentleman in question explained the limited success of such and approach and suggested the only way to attain complete success was to respray the whole bonnet. A few days later my car was returned - outstanding job and £350 lighter . As I intend to keep this car for at least five years, it is money well spent to retain my sanity . Best regards, Dave

First Jag
Hi Burl, I agree with your observation on the Continent, I've just come back from a couple of days in Rome and Antwerp and I've been keeping the beedy eye out for Jags. I guess I've been doing that since I bought mine. Must admit, in both cities I've seen a few Jags - mostly S and X types, a couple of XFs but little else.

Hi Roger, Welcome to the club and Cat ownership, you could try typing in "X-Type caliper refurbishment" and see what comes up, likewise a simple "DSC fault light" could help out. Good luck, Dave

Jaguar xk convertible 2006 buying guide.
Hi Jarrod, Welcome to the forum and potential ownership. I can't talk with authority on the XK (although would love to own one myself - maybe a few years time). When I bought my S-Type last year (4.2 V8 Sport (faster than the XK ;) )), I knew next to nothing about the brand other than I loved the retro styling and wanted a V8. I did some research online but didn't have a mechanic mate in my back pocket. I settled for an AA inspection of the car before signing on the dotted line. Because the car was more than 8 years old I had to opt for the full (more costly) inspection, which combined with it being the 4.2l cost me £272.00 (discounted for AA member) but it basically gave me some peace of mind with a 3rd party inspection. Depending on your budget it could be the way to go. Good luck, let us know how you get on. Best regards, Dave

First Jag
Hi John, Welcome to the club and Jag ownership. Hope you're not going to drive too slow, don't want to get to much of an "old man's car" thing going on :) - it was the first thing my ex said to me when I collected my son for the weekend. Look forward to seeing some pics, Best regards, Dave

Headlight adjustment for right hand driving
Hi KJO, All that I've read seems to suggest the adjustment in the cockpit and in the engine compartment make adjustment to the beam height but not to the angle of the beam for driving on the opposite side of the road. I used to work in Germany for a few years and it was necessary to change the UK spec headlights on my car for the european equivalent. Web search and other forums suggest using the blanking strip on to the outside of the lens alternatively there is some suggestion of being able to swap the headlights around....... The latter is suggested, I haven't seen any evidence of it being accomplished. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Dave

1999 s type gearbox failure
Hi Darren, I see this post has been up for a month with no response from a potential huge number of members - you'd have thought we'd have one or two mechanically talented individuals. Unfortunately I can't include myself in this category. Have you tried searching online - simply typing the fault into google? Or perhaps opting for "ask a Jaguar mechanic"? Good luck, Dave
