Battery charger recommendations please
Hi David, The quiescent drain for our cars is 30 milliamperes or 0.03A so not very high at all. This is also easily checked. I would ensure the day before you leave, you allow your CTEK to fully charge the battery. However, it would be worth having the capacity of the battery checked as it may have dropped from lack of use. Lead sulphate begins to form at 12.4v and its these sulphites that strangle the battery.

You’re welcome, Paul. If you intend to remove the battery then always the negative first.

2006 XK (X150) Check Pedestrian Sensor On Dash
Hi Paul, With your car there is no problem with disconnecting the battery as you don’t have the BMS (battery monitoring system) fitted. I have the icarsoft i930 for mine which is perfect for what I want and it will tell you which sensor is at fault. If you go the icarsoft route then make sure you buy from a reputable source and it is Jaguar specific.

As shown in the video, no specialist tools required to change the sensors. You can always disconnect the battery to be completely safe.

2006 XK (X150) Check Pedestrian Sensor On Dash
Hi Paul, A code reader will tell you exactly which part of the system is flagging the fault. Usually it will be one of the 2 impact sensors at the front of the car. On your car, both can be changed from the top without having to remove the nose cone. This will help;

Flood Water
Unfortunately you do not have a ”service connection” to enable remote movement of the seat and there is no way to manually move them. You will therefore have to remove it and then apply 12v to the motor in order to move it. Assuming of course the motor has not been damaged by the water.

What part of Yorkshire are in?

S Type 2006 2.7 deisel wiring diagarm.
Yes it does. The most common problem for a drain is the ”alarm chirp sounder”. The internal rechargeable batteries short out over time causing the drain. The other is the little flap in the ignition barrel not closing when the key is removed. The easiest way to deal with the sounder is to simply disconnect it and then see if the battery is still discharging. The ignition switch flap will just need a little graphite grease to lubricate it, if indeed it is stuck open.

Hi Mike, The manual I sent you will have the 4.2 engine wiring in it. The rest of the manual is the same for both.

The latest Jaguar disc you can get is 2012, Frank. If you need more up to date then you will have to go aftermarket.

Jaguar XK Dec 2010 model spare wheel
Hit and miss, Tim. Some had them, some didn’t. If the one you’re looking at hasn’t got one then there should be a trim piece that covers the floor. It should also have the can of blow up foam in case of puncture. Sourcing from the internet would be your best bet if you really want a spare.

xk drive door mirror
Hi Allan, Put the mirror in it’s driving position first. Now adjust the glass inwards. Now put your fingers into the side of the glass and simply pull. It will just pop of it’s mounting. Make sure your other hand is there to steady the glass in case it falls.

Engineer codes
As they are generally electrical problems, the first thing to do is to check your battery voltage at the terminals.

XK battery going flat.
Quite right John. You should be able to disconnect it to prove the theory, Pete. Just another thought, you don’t have a tracker fitted or something plugged into the OBD port, do you?

XK battery going flat.
Not quite Pete. As soon as you reconnect the battery, the infotainment centre will flash up and that is where your 9A is coming from. You would need to wait 30 minutes for the various modules to shutdown to get a more accurate reading of any parasitic drain. The most common fault is the alarm chirp sounder internal batteries shorting out causing the drain. The sounder sits under the driver’s side bonnet hinge and is quite fiddly to get to.
