  1. Turning the steering wheel activates them. To check, have the engine running and lights on then turn the wheel left and right and have someone look to see the light activate.

  5. Well known problem in the XJ, David. An independent specialist will be best if you don’t feel confident in taking apart yourself.

  7. If petrol then you really need to check the fuel pressure at the Schroeder valve before the rail. Fuel filter also should be checked.

  12. Welcome to the forum, Phil. Some had a obvious switch in the centre of the panel others you simply press and it should open.
  13. If you have a code reader, try resetting it or take the car for a drive. If it still doesn’t reset then further investigation is required.

  15. There are 2 wear sensors, front left and right rear. Did you change the correct one? Check the connectors on both corners.

  18. Fuse F16 40A feeding through relay RLY 11 in the engine junction box. If there is power going through then check the LH connector, probably in the ‘A’ post.
  19. By all means have the battery tested though I would also be having the alternator looked at.
  20. No need to remove the battery for charging. Connect the CTEK to the positive of the battery and the negative to a ground point and you’ll be perfectly ok.
