  1. Adultery (If infants can have infancy, why can't adults have adultery)
  2. You presume correctly, i was replying to you and it is indeed a mystery as to where your post has gone - maybe a moderator has hidden it? I get what you're saying about the turbo putting the ECU into Limp Mode and causing the gearbox MIL to light now, i havae similar on my Honda at the moment due to some idiot topping the box with DW-1 instead of the correct fluid. Generally i get 22-32mpg out of my S Type but that is on LPG so only 80p/L - equivalent to 40-60mpg roughly in terms of cost. As for life expectancy, my last petrol car was sold with 238k on the clock from new and still giving good performance, economy, power and not using any fluids. Traded that one against my Honda (142k from new and likely to do double that easily) although thanks to the aforementioned ATF problem, that's only doing ~16mpg or 10mpg less than the V6 Volvo with 238k did! Either way the OP still hasn't responded to my first response about the ATF and codes.............
  3. Looking at your post count, the above post is your first and only post. Surprised a turbo/DPF fault will cause the gearbox MIL to come on, the two aren't connected usually. The moral of your tale really says buy a petrol though.............

  5. Jaguar engineered the exhaust to be very "subdued" so upgrading to a stainless exhaust may improve matters. https://www.adamesh.co.uk/performance-parts-162-c.asp Here's a video of someone who used those parts on their 2004 XK8 so should give you a good comparison : The before & after comparison starts ~7:45 if you want to skip to the "good bits", in fairness it's quite a balanced video and he take it on a drive, going through tunnels etc with the new exhaust, cruising at 70mph etc. My S Type 3.0 V6 is similarly subdued, i bought a pair of Adamesh rear silencers for mine (yet to fit them) which will hopefully give me a bit more of the V6 growl (a similar YT video suggests it will) but more importantly for me, will outlast any standard mild steel back boxes that would be a similar cost! This was the video i saw for the 3.0 S Type if you're interested : Also forgot to mention, the quality overall seems very good and i'm looking forward to getting them on there soon! Got a couple of other minor mods and a new set of tyres to go on (once i refurb the wheels) so hoping to get it all done in one go............
  6. A Merc E class estate (Touring?) is a good choice for a "Dogmobile" so i don't think we can hate you for that. 😛 Good luck in your hunt for a suitable Jag, as for the ad you saw it definitely sounds as if your instincts were correct!
  7. I could be wrong but i'm fairly sure you're right about the early V12s being Lucas/Opus electronic but something in the back of my mind says they changed to a Hall Effect trigger in the dizzy when the Lucas (copy of Bosch L-Jetronic) EFi was fitted. I'll try and find some old diagrams that may show it but don't hold your breath.......
  8. Welcome aboard Andrew, i'm still a relative newbie as well (joined about a year ago when i bought my S Type) and so far haven't been to any social events of any form. When i had my previous "big" car, we had a monthly (Saturday afternoon) meet in a centrally located pub, usually had a meal there and an afternoon of chat (mostly about the cars) and being social - i'd be up for attending something along those lines in the east of England/East Anglia/east Midlands area if there's enough people to make it worthwhile.
  9. Pigs (oinkment silly joke i know...........)
