  1. Hi - Thanks for the tip - I've taken the plunge and ordered a full service kit (plugs included !). and a set of second hand coils packs - tested and in perfect working order - £39.99 from jojags near Liverpool - a bit of a gamble I know, but it's better than £250 for a new set !!!!! Have spent the day swotting up on my service manual, to see what's involved taking off the intake manifold - watch this space!
  2. Cheers for the speedy suggestion to my prob - your probably right about the plugs needing changing - the car has done 132K miles - all of which, upto now, have been faultless - but would still love to know about the DTC code U3FFF, anybody got any clues? In the meantime I'll source some new spark plugs !!!
  3. Hi All - sorry about lack of input - but I've had serious problems with my broadband of late (honest) . But can anybody help - my X type (3.0 ltr SE, running on LPG) is experiencing loss of power, intermittently, with the odd misfire etc, some days it's fine and some days it's pretty ropey! It's has been running a MIL light for a couple of years now due to the LPG conversion causing some faulty emmission readings, but has been running faultlessly till now. I've invested in a cheap OBD2 scanner, and the only code it shows is U3FFF - but for the life of me I can't find out what it means - has anybody got any ideas ????
  4. Hi everybody - I know I'm replying to an 'old' post - (only just joined and am trying to play catch on some of the older posts and topics!), but this bit of advice might still be of help now. If you're 'sourcing' a replacement ICE unit, from a breakers yard or the like and they don't have the original radio code, firstly you should let them know that without the 'code' the unit is pretty worthless (we know it's not !) and try and negotiate a better price, but then ask to have a look at the donor vehicle, you may be interested in other parts, but then make a note of the VIN or chassis number - visible from the nearside lower windscreen area. Now armed with the VIN number, log on to eBay and search for Jaguar Radio codes or something similar, and you'll find several people who can supply you with the correct code for about a tenner - happy days! The only time this won't work is if the unit from the donor is not the original factory unit - but to be fair the chances of this being the case is pretty slim.
  5. Hi - I'm a new member to the club and am a Jaguar 'pensioner', having worked at the X type assembly plant (Halewood) from X Type launch in 2000 though to my retirement in 2005, and was involved in this issue during quality testing in the plant. First of all don't panic, and there's no neeed to stop using the car, the noise you are hearing is 'prop shaft moan', and unfortunately does manifest itself when the temperature drops to around freezing point. We thought we had contained the issue within plant, but obviously we didn't ! The issue was down to the supplier making changes to the prop shaft universal joints, without full verifcation of the engineering change, and more importantly, without informing Jaguar !!!! You can fix this by (I know this sounds a bit obvious) by either swopping the prop shaft or the U/J's, either with a pre or post 2005MY prop - hope this helps - Cheers!
  6. Hi Steve - thanks for the tip off, what you say makes sense because I experienced the problem yesterday, when I went on a long(ish) journey, round trip of about 200 miles, and when I did my usual under bonnet checks (oil, washers and coolant) prior to such journeys, I noticed the coolant level was considerably low - it took a coiuple of litres to bring back to max level on the reservoir ! So when this 'blinking' torrential rain stops, I know what I'll be doing. Cheers again!
  7. Hi everybody - I run a 2001 3.0 SE, running on LPG and 130,000 miles on the clock, I've owned it for over 7 years and has been relatively trouble free, just the usual stuff - disc and pads, and rear abs sensors, it's my pride and joys with some subtle mods - 18 inch rims, mesh grille, bootlid spoiler etc.etc However of late it has becomes extremly difficult to demist the windscreen, or, in fact the whole cabin mists up very badly - this is a new scenario and something i've never experiienced in all the time of my ownership - any body got any ideas? - Cheers !
