My battery is a right so and so to get out if it fails, it's in the boot, and the boot is electrically operated without a key entry
. But hopefully I will get a warning before it ever gets that bad .

Dan,
I enquired about a leaper and was told not to by a magistrate (on this site), so I wouldn't tempt fate.
Not sure about the front grille, but I think your car looks very nice the way it is ,Ii prefer the more rounded shape to the shape of mine, although I am getting used to it. Can't help you with the other questions I'm afraid, but no doubt someone will be along shortly who can .
It does look a very nice car, and I hope you will continue to be pleased with it.

Peter,
They seem a handy tool to keep in your boot, could you give a link to the sort of thing you mean please, and where do you plug them in?

Peter,
Don't the cobbles streets slow things down a bit though?

David,
Try here, not used them myself, but others have said they're ok.

This can be as simple as the battery voltage dropping off, Don't panic just yet it may just need the battery charging or replacing . Or could also just be one of the front ABS leads. These can be changed quite easily.

I hope you are using an independent garage John, and not one of the stealerships. The garage where I got the XJ Supersport from claim mine is due for a service, How they can work that out I do not know, as the car has done less than 3k since it was serviced last June. That is just one of a number of issues I have with the dealership, and I will be writing to them tomorrow to tell them I won't be using them again unless I get treated a lot better (and cheaper!) .

John,
If you get a scanner the list of codes can be downloaded from here :

Aaaaah , but which Trevor, the old one or the sensible one ?
Let's hope the problem is solved

It could be something as trivial as tyre pressure, or the vehicle being left for a period of time . You could try to activate the system by braking hard and see if that works . If that doesn't work why not purchase a diagnostic scanner ? ( someone will give you the link for a cheap one on E bay ) it will then give you a code, which in turn should lead to any fault which would cut down on garage bills . We have the scanner codes if you need them .

Colin,
As Trevor (the younger one) says "Go for it " I have never regretted getting my XJ Supersport for one minute , my only regret was the time and money wasted on the Aston DB9's , still, I've done that now !
in the meantime i am going to resist the urge for the F Type Coupe R..

I just cannot believe people fall for all that guff . I haven't seen any of the adverts and don't intend to either . Still, it is an article from an American paper , the land of the gullible , according to my daughter who lives there.

Good thinking Trevor, mine wouldn't lock when the bonnet sensor was faulty, whatever it is, it doesn't sound anything major, just needs locating, you could even try cleaning the fuses in case it's a bad connection.

It sounds like it could be a problem with the fuses, first thing I would do is check them . Also, the fuse numbers change with model year, so you must make sure that the fuse location document you have matches the model year for your car.

Alan,
Nearly bought the XKR-S, but in the end went for the Supersport, it is 5 litre Supercharged and is a lot quicker than both the Aston Martin DB9's I owned, so i'm pleased with the power.

Dear Brian,
I am also retired . Had a bit of luck in the money department, so I'm not flash in the slightest. The wife bought me an Aston Martin DB 9 for my birthday, whilst it was in for service someone ran into it . The garage is also a Jaguar as well as an Aston franchise . The XJ Supersport belonged to one of the Jaguar directors and they let me borrow it . it is a fantastic car, so they have let me keep it, it is so far superior in every single way to the Aston . Apart from the usual Luxury (and USB port) , it has a 1200 watt 20 speaker sound system , and three TV's' .
As I get older I get worse, and have just changed my christian name from Trevor to Hendrix (honest) .
And as Peter claims he is even older (definitely wiser ) than us I think you should both join my club .

Dear Peter,
You can't be that much of a Luddite. most people would regard you as super trendy as you own Apple stuff and shop at IKEA. What are cd's? I have loads in the loft you can have if you wish. This is the thing I was telling Brian about , this one is specifically for the Ipod, but other versions are available for other MP3 players, and cheaper versions also. it is a far better idea than cd's
ATB,
Trevor
P.S. Peter, Surely if your JaaaaaG is a 2007 one it must have a USB port?
-
Brian,
Fair enough. I just presumed your Jag had a USB port , I just find ipods very poor music reproduction systems . But you can get transmitter systems that you plug into the cigarette lighter and use one of the frequencies on the radio to play the MP3 player, or in your case your Ipod through. I have used this system in the past also and found it fine . They are cheap and widely available, got mine from Amazon and think it was called a Griffin.

On mine I have to take enter the passenger door with the emergency key inside the key fob, open the bonnet, take the fuse box cover off , there is a metal prong, I have to get a battery charger, connect the positive to it, and the negative to somewhere on the body . this will give enough power for the key to open the boot and get the battery put .
yours seems a far better idea David.
